Can we unwrap from ourselves the words and the reasons and the habits, and the routines of thought or feeling that we swaddle ourselves in, like over-bundled children on cold winter days? Can we notice the change of seasons reaching out to us and then open ourselves up to this new kind of warmth? How many collars need loosening? How many toes wiggling free? How many brain buttons dare we undo? How many revealing breaths can we count in silence? Now look: notice this light that fills the space between us and the trees, and between the trees and sky and between the water and a special place inside us as we gaze upon it. Isn’t it all worth it?
We also swaddle ourselves in rituals, etched in our collective celular memories since forever. Unwrapping, unlocking, unthinking everything seems essential if what we want is to evolve our authentic selves and be truly free.
