I’ve recently started looking into what are called “single-source gems.” As the name implies, these are stones and mineral species found in only one location on the planet.
The variety of knowledge you convey in these posts is mind-blowing! Have you ever been on Jeopardy? I think you could do quite well 💰 On an aside, I lost a ring back in the fall that I thought was tanzanite (not top quality, but very pretty) at a retreat center. I never followed up on it but after listening to this, I think I will. The color shifts between light blue and a light purple but I never noticed burgundy.
Thank you, Judy! I'm really just reporting on recent online research here and the thoughts it inspired. What I found was that there are pretty big disagreements related to the discovery of tanzanite and what happened after. But even if the stories disagree, there's something else worth considering, which is that people have been walking the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro for a *very* long time. If someone else found a pretty blue-purple stone there a 15 thousand years ago, would we even know? But we set the discovery date at 1967. There is a tendency to think of our time as the measure and definer of all other times. In my view, our time is just a lens that makes some things appear large and important and other things small and insignificant. I guess that comes with the territory of inhabiting time... but I still hope you find your ring!
This brought a unique smile to my face on this unique Wednesday morning 😊🙏🏼
As Ronnie James Dio said,"A rainbow in the dark". See how we shine.
